So this post is a little bit exciting for me, I am able to show you a new and exclusive piece from an up and coming plus size designer. And at present that is pretty much all I am allowed to say.

They just want to get some feedback on their designs and just to see how they might be received but the Curvette community! I love that a designer would go to the trouble to find out what people actually want before even trying to sell them anything!

I love this piece, its made out of a beautiful slinky, silky, pleated material, with a beautiful little frill around the waist. The straps come completely off, so you can wear it strapless or completely change the style, giving you more than one way to wear it. I love the versatilely that it offers.

I also love the "cut out" look, luckily I have come to terms with showing off my midriff, so I really am smitten with how this dress not only looks but feels on my body!

One word, love.

Designer dress* worn with Mimco hair clip & Beth Ditto for Evans Heels.

  1. I have kind of mixed feeling, on one hand this dress loss amazing and it is so good to see something like this in plus size, on the other it looks like it would never ever work for my boobs, cause I am a big boob girl, but I love the idea and I think there are enough plus size girls with smaler boobs, on who it will look amazing!

  2. Looks fab on you Jess but I also have huge boobs and can't wear a strapless bra as ma knockers are to heavy.

  3. If I'm honest, I don't like this. The bottom is fine, apart from the little frill on the top of the skirt. But the top is crazy. Do you have to tie that bit over your boobs? If so, I'd never buy this. I know my tying skills would make it look sloppy everytime. Plus I'd be paranoid about it coming apart. That part just isn't polished enough yet. It would be ok for the beach maybe? Not good for anyone with big boobs too.

Just some honest feedback. I do like the general sillohouette as the cut out is nicely balanced with the maxi length, plus the material looks nice.

  4. The main structure of the "tube top" is fitted, so you don't tie that at all. And the designer tells me that it can be made longer to cover a more ample bosom :). The bit that is adjustable is just the straps which wrap around. :)

Thanks for all the feedback so far xo

  5. I honestly think it looks fabulous on you lady! But it certainly isn't something I would feel confident to go out and rock. I have a bit of a roll-situation going on in my stomach area (whereas yours looks nice and smooth). But like I said, you're killing it ;) xx

  7. I love the skirt, but I've got the big'ens too, so the top bit would indeed make me nervous. Maybe if they showed other ways to tie it?

  8. The dress is really cute, and the material looks lovely! I feel the same way as Katrin and chunkychick, though. I definitely can't go braless, I doubt I could find a strapless bra with enough support, and this dress wouldn't cover half my bra. I'd wear it if there were significantly more coverage in the chest!

  12. I love the bottom portion so much. The top portion is a bit too much for my taste. Great dress on you! Kiah

  13. I love it! Very Barbara Stanwyck in The Lady Eve :) very sexy! You look beautiful, too. I personally don't like slinky fabrics, even with Fortuny pleats, but that's a matter of taste. If I had my druthers I'd wear nothing but natural fibers (all wool sweaters? Expensive!) but I know that's my personal mishegas.

It's a very intriguing design, and a great update of a classic old Hollywood style bodice. Joan Crawford knew how badass a high waist and bare midriff was, so should we!
