Fourth of July

So this weeks outfit challenge was "blue" - and well I know I have a lot of clothes but nothing blue really jumped out at me, in fact I'm not sure I own that many blue pieces. But on a recent fabric buying trip at my local spotlight, I found this stunning star print navy blue velvet, on clearance for only $6.00 a metre, I bought what I knew I needed to make the skirt and there was a little left over, so I got that too. I knew a matching two piece set needed to be made.

So after some sorting, cutting and sewing, this is what I came up with. It felt really nice to have a little bit of my midriff on show, to feel the sun and wind on my skin and too not be "covered" up. This might give me a weird tan line come the warmer months of Summer, but at least there will be a tan instead of pure whiteness!
