Aussie Curves: Shine Bright Like A ..... Sequin

Wow.. original title I know, but it seemed fitting. This weeks Aussie Curves theme is Sequins, naturally my favourite theme. And I'm being completely unbiased when I say that. There is something about sequins that just always add a special something to an outfit for me. It might be the shine or the texture, or just how beautiful they are - but they really are the ultimate "look at me" statement.

I adored this dress when it arrived on ASOS.com but I wasn't entirely sure how the fit would be. So often with these love party dresses they fit small and slightly short, so I was happy to discover that this fit loose! If I didn't like the way the sleeves fell, I would have sent it back and got the size down. I love how 1980's this is, the patterned sequins are just so stunning - also very non scratchy. They have lined it with a very soft jersey so it is incredibly soft against your skin. And it also features another of my loves, Tulle. Two layers in fact.

A MermaidJust Like You

"Hi, My name is Jessica and I have an ASOS Addiction.... "

The above statement is blatantly obvious. But I've said it before and I will happily say it again. It's one of the only love affairs that has ever truly lasted. I first saw this sequin top, when it came online, and even thought I am a sequin kinda gal (I am Too Many Sequins, after all!) I wasn't overly sold on it. The colours were nice, but I didn't think "wow - I need that" which is the base thought for all my purchases.

But when Gabi put in on her blog here I saw how beautiful it was and promptly went on and grabbed it, on sale too! But still, even the photos on ASOS.com, just doesn't show the extreme mermaid green this top has, nor the flicks of red and pink when light hits it. It shows it more of a silver and blue. I was happily surprised by just how green this top is.

Festival Chic

I've honestly never liked the idea of going to a music festival, or a festival of any kind if I was being honest. I don't like the idea of mud on me unless I happen to be in a day spa - but I do love seeing photos of all the celebs at Coachella, the easy breezy looks of certain starlets have me wishing of warm days on the California beach - mud free, of course.

So I was dreaming of being back in my other home state, in the California sun, with my love, happy and frolicking... sorry, back to the post. This is what I would wear if I was living that dream. I seem to be living in maxi skirts and enjoying this last little bit of warmth before winter gets in full swing.

Miami Jewel

I Instagrammed this dress when it first came online a few weeks ago, but I held back from buying it straight away. I adored it, I simply loved the pattern and in a very faint way it reminds me of Ken Done. But I just wasn't sure how these pale colours would go with my skin.

But one late night of online window shopping, and 5 minutes later I went for it. The only way you will know if something works is to try it. So when it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by how non pastel it was. Yes the colours are pale, but in a very bright, look at me kind of way.
Even in these shots, it still looks remarkably pale, but in real life, its much much brighter.

I was again, happily surprised by how thick the fabric was, how lovely the cut of the dress was, the extra long sleeves that were not made for man sized wrists! Some people had said it was very oversized, or that it was horrible in real life - I strongly disagree with them. It's perfection to me. I honestly do not think I've ever been so happy with a dress from ASOS, it seems like the plus size fashion industry are really lifting their game - which means one thing #closetrich.

Aussie Curves: Time Saver

So another week, another Aussie Curve's Post. This weeks theme de jour is time saver.
We all have them, let's face it - sometimes you just don't feel like pulling a whole, curated outfit together for the day a head when you are already 20 minutes behind because you didn't want to wake up from a beautiful dream you were having, it's fine we have all been there. That's usually when you quickly put together a tried and tested outfit, that you know already works!

But what about those occasions, where time is of the essence but it's still incredibly important to look très chic... the first date, the three year anniversary, or those things that pop up quite quickly with out so much as 5 minutes notice.

Well like the afore mentioned, tried and true outfits, the one faithful I'm sure most girls have in their closet, is the Little Black Dress. She never fails to stand up to the pressure of what ever we might her through, she is a standard, tried and true piece. But also epically chic and a pre-requisite for any fashion lover, she is the ultimate time saver. Here are my top picks for Little Black Dresses - I actually have got all of these, but have no had a chance to take photos wearing them!

Drape Goddess Dress by City Chic $119.95 Available Here.

The above dress, for whatever reason, I have decided is in some form, related to Batman. And this is a very good thing seeing as thought Batman is my favourite of all the Super Heroes . I mean leather check brooding check handsome & mysterious check Misunderstood check. You really could call him a modern Mr. Darcy, no?

But back to the dress at hand, the reason it reminds me of Batman is simply because it's black and billowy. When worn, from the back it is almost as if you have wings, the draping is rather mysterious not to mention sexy!

Textured Weave Dress by City Chic $99.95 Available Here.

I had no intention of buying anything from City Chic. I've never been the biggest fan, and I've always said that. They bring things out from time to time I just love - and at the moment they seem to be having a constant run of bringing things out that I have not only loved, but adore and drive 2 hours to my local store and try on and inadvertently buy.

This dress for instant was not even on my radar, until I saw it freshly unpacked on the new arrivals rack. And I fell so in love with its texture and thick knit, I tried it on. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and the fit, and how much it reminded me of a Herve Lerger dress. I was smitten.

Ottoman Stud Dress by City Chic $119.95 Available Here.

I was very surprised by this dress! I'm not the biggest fan of studs, or of really obviously faux leather on a dress.... well actually, on anything. But the lush texture and knit of this dress, that's what got it into the changing room. Its thick and has beautiful box pleats on the waist. And again, the fabric it's made out of is so beautiful! Good one CC!

Filigree Skater Dress by City Chic $119.95 Available Here.

Now this last one is probably very self explanatory on why I love it. As soon as I saw that gold embroidery I was instantly reminded of Dolce & Gabbana, albeit a much more toned down version.  And I probably would have been close to death had it been embodied onto lace.

The beautiful thing about this dress, and all the others for that matter, is that once you slip them on, there's not a whole lot more you really have to do. You can switch out the shoes, go for black or white, or even an animal print and it will still look fabulous.

What is your time saver?

Buttercup

This might be a known fact, but I have a soft spot for Body Suits that are made by the very lovely Shawna over at Chubby Cartwheels. She just seems to make them perfectly for my body. I adore them. I also love that she will customize the sleeve for me if I want a princess puff!

Just between you and I, I felt like a little bit of a princess in this outfit. I'm not entirely sure if it was the maxi, the up do or the lace, but I definitely felt like it would be a good outfit to meet Prince Charming in.

Sometimes the best outfits are the simplest ones. I didn't over do it with this outfit, as much as I love looking like a cup cake, some times I like to do understated as well. In fact, I feel like that is more and more where my style is heading. Evolving into classic staples and pieces that have texture. And mixing it all up with a statement necklace or bag. I'm not about being frosted from head to toe anymore, I want just some icing on top!
